CHICAGO — The flu, common cold and cough are going around Chicago.

It's near-peak flu season in the city, according to a report from Sickweather.com, which uses social media to track illnesses across Chicago. The city has also seen an uptick in people reporting having a cough or the common cold.

People who have flu might have symptoms including fever, cough, fatigue and sore throat, among others, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The severity of flu varies, but it can be deadly.

Yearly flu vaccines are recommended for people older than 6 months, as vaccinations are the best way to prevent the flu, according to the CDC.
