CHICAGO — So, we felt lame complaining about the frigid weekend after a pretty tolerable winter so far, but then we stepped outside and choked on the -24 wind chill.
Jan. 18, 2016 Rating: Mostly Miserable (7)
Why a 7? "Cold" doesn't even seem like strong enough a word to describe the current conditions in Chicago. "Brutal" and "miserable" seem a little more accurate. Layers aren't enough.
More reasons for misery: The sun looks nice but why bother? Maybe it makes things feel like -10 instead of -30?
Why things aren't the worst: It'll be cold again tomorrow, but not as bad as today. And by the weekend we're looking at the 30s again, which suddenly seems downright balmy. If you must leave your house in this terrible weather, chances are there's a warm place for you to get a stiff drink nearby. So that's good.
