CHICAGO — Two men were shot Wednesday morning while trying to rob a South Deering cellphone store, police said.

At 11:05 a.m., the men walked into a T-Mobile store at 2051 E. 95th St. and took out guns, according to the Tribune. An employee shot the men, who then ran away and drove off, according to the Tribune.

The men went to South Shore Hospital and were transferred to Stroger Hospital, where they were in serious condition, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

One of the men, who is 35 years old, was shot in the groin and left arm, Sedevic said. The other man, who is 24, was shot in the abdomen and left arm.

The men are in custody with charges pending, police said.

The T-Mobile store is independently owned and operated, and the owner is "working closely" with police on the investigation, said T-Mobile spokeswoman Annie Garrigan. T-Mobile declined to comment further.

Earlier this week, two teens ages 15 and 17 were shot and killed by a liquor store clerk in Auburn Gresham after they tried to rob that store, police said.
