NORWOOD PARK — The Chicago chapter of the Thomas Merton Society will focus on the issue of peace in a "post-Christian world" at an event at Immaculate Conception Parish.

Members of the Catholic Peace Fellowship staff will discuss Merton's thoughts about peace in the modern era with the society at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Conception Parish, 7211 W. Talcott Ave.

The society is dedicated to promoting the work of Merton — an American Catholic writer, monk, poet and social activist — who would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2015.

Admission is free, although a $5 donation is requested, and refreshments will be served.
