NORTH LAWNDALE — A 29-year-old man died and four other men were hurt after a shooting in North Lawndale Friday night, police said.

The shooting occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The surviving victims of the shooting told investigators they were standing on the block when they "heard shots and felt pain," Estrada said.

The 29-year-old brought himself to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in his upper chest, Estrada said. He was later pronounced dead.

Cook County medical examiners identified the man as Raymon Blount, of the 300 block of North Pine Avenue.

Two 28-year-old men went to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions "stabilized" after they were treated for gunshot wounds in their right thighs, Estrada said.

A 21-year-old man brought himself to Saint Anthony Hospital, where his condition was "stable" after he was shot in his left ankle, Estrada said.

A fifth man, 26, refused medical attention after suffering a graze wound in his right thigh, Estrada said.

Police said the men were not cooperating with authorities, and that at least four of them have "documented gang ties."

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
