CHICAGO — A man was killed and seven others were injured in shootings since Tuesday, police said.

At 9 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in his head and chest by a person he'd been in a car with in Burnside, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center but was later pronounced dead.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 11:20 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing, Estrada said. The man was standing on a rear porch in the 6900 block of South Vernon Avenue when a man fired shots in his direction, hitting the victim in his left leg. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

• At 10:30 p.m., two men were injured in a shooting in Gage Park, Estrada said. They were getting into a car in the 6300 block of South Artesian Avenue when a dark minivan pulled alongside them and someone inside fired at the men.

A 22-year-old was hit multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in serious condition, Estrada said. A 29-year-old man was hit in his right leg and taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

The men are documented gang members, police said, and the incident might be gang-related.

• At 5:45 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot and wounded in Morgan Park, Estrada said. The man was walking in the 10900 block of South Racine Avenue when someone shot him in his foot. The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was in good condition.

• At 2:12 p.m., a 32-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Logan Square, Estrada said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of West Dickens Avenue when he saw a man farther down the block firing a gun in his direction. The man was hit once in his left hand and took himself to St. Mary Hospital, where he was in good condition.

• At 2:04 p.m., an 18-year-old was shot in Washington Park, Estrada said. The man was walking on the sidewalk with friends in the 5700 block of South Michigan Avenue when a man walked out of a gangway and opened fire on the group. The 18-year-old ran away and later realized he'd been shot in his buttocks.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

The victim is a documented gang member, police said, and the incident might be gang-related.

• At 10:50 a.m., a 33-year-old man was shot in Englewood, Estrada said. The man was going into a home through its rear entrance in the 6400 block of South Eggleston Avenue when two men walked out of an alley. At least one of them had a handgun and began shooting at the man.

The man was hit in his right thigh and was driven by a friend to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

The man is a documented gang member, police said, and that might have played a role in the shooting.

No one is in custody in these shootings.
