ROSELAND — Police have opened a death investigation after the dead body of a female was found in a suitcase in a Roseland alley Sunday afternoon.
Around 2:05 p.m. Sunday, police found a "female of unknown age" dead in the alley in the 300 block of West 115th Street in Roseland, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
Witnesses at the scene told reporters that they found a suitcase in the alley, then unzipped it. After seeing the body they called 911, they said. Police did not confirm that account.
Detectives are conducting an ongoing death investigation, Tannehill said.
