UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — A student was sexually assaulted in a residence hall on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus, officials said Tuesday.

In a campus crime alert, UIC Police said that the student was assaulted between 6 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 20 in UIC dormitory at 700 S. Halsted St. The assault was committed by "a person known to the victim," police said.

Police described the offender as a 17-year-old white male who is 6-foot, 170 pounds, and with black hair and brown eyes. He is not affiliated with UIC, officials said.

"The university is providing resources to assist the victim and will continue to take actions to maintain the safety and security of the campus community," the alert said.

No arrests had been made in the case as of late Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call UIC police at 312-996-2830.

Chicago Police referred questions to the UIC police.
