DOWNTOWN — Chi-Town Rising will be headlined by bands American Authors and Chicago.
The New Year's Eve bash will feature a variety of musicians starting at 8 p.m., but rock band Chicago and alternative rock group American Authors will take the stage as midnight closes in. There will be stages on both sides of the river between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive.
Chi-Town Rising will take place outside along Upper Wacker Drive. It will feature a variety of activities, including a "big star" being raised to ring in the new year, fireworks and music.
Announced earlier this year, the city touted it as a celebration to rival New York City's Times Square ball drop.
