WICKER PARK — In fast turnover news, the folks behind comfort food haven Carriage House — which shuttered earlier this month and initially planned to reopen as CH Bar + Provisions — will instead debut a new bar and restaurant concept called Buck’s, it was announced Wednesday.

Located at 1700 W. Division St., about one block west of the Division and Ashland Avenue intersection, Buck's, set to open Dec. 8, will be "a casual hangout for Southern-inspired cocktails, beer, bourbon, and bites," according to a news release.

The new venture will be led by the same Michelin award-winning team behind Carriage House, including chef Mike Galen and managing partner Matt Mering.

Buck's will continue Galen's affinity for cooking up Southern food and will offer "an eclectic environment that combines Southern funk with a neighborhood feel," according to the news release, which also introduced Southern-born Stephen Lee, a startup investor, philanthropist, and Chicago food personality as a partner in the project.

“We are excited to unveil the progress on this new concept, Buck’s will deliver a new Southern feel with an upbeat atmosphere that’s playful and funky. We can’t wait for drinkers and diners to experience the energy and fun in store," Mering said.

More details on Buck’s, including the beverage and food menu, will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, visit its sparse website, BucksChicago.com.
