Gwen Sea, Executive Assistant to Black Ensemble Theater founder Jackie Taylor, remembers Hood captivating stages in performances at the theater such as: Sounds So Sweet, At Last: A Tribute To Etta James, One Hit Wonders, Once Upon A People, The Story of Curtis Mayfield, Ain’t No Crying The Blues in The Memory of Howlin Wolf and Little Alvin’s Big Science Project.

"It's great. We're excited about it [just] the fact that he's there and gotten so far. His personality is great. It'll take him far," Sea said.

According to The Voice's website, Hood comes from an eclectic background and was heavily involved in the church. His father is a pastor with his mother taught gospel choir. When he wasn't leading his school's choir, he served as vice president for Future Farmers of America.

Mark currently works as an actor and has "had guest spots on major network television shows," according to its website.

According to Sea, Hood had a scare last week when he didn't receive enough votes from the fans to be saved, but was spared by his coach Pharell. Still, she isn't worried considering "he does have a great voice" and he's "passed every challenge he's seen so far."

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.
