CHICAGO — The mother of a baby girl found dead in Uptown this week has been charged in the infant's death, according to police.

The 19-year-old woman, who is now hospitalized, dropped the baby girl from an eighth floor window shortly after giving birth, killing the newborn, according to police. The baby was found about 11:20 p.m. Nov. 11 a block away from a hospital.

The baby was still alive when she was found, but she died after being rushed to the hospital. An autopsy showed the newborn died of "multiple blunt force trauma," considered a homicide, county officials sid.

Mubashra Uddin, 19, of the 800 block of West Eastwood Avenue, has been charged with murder, according to a Chicago Police news release.

Uddin will appear in court Saturday.
