Macy's Holiday Window Display Shows Chicago Buildings ... But in New York

By Kelly Bauer | November 13, 2015 5:39am

THE LOOP — Macy's holiday windows show Chicago buildings ... smack dab in the middle of New York City.

Macy's on State Street's window displays "Santa's Journey to the Stars," showing the beloved Mr. Claus traveling among colorful interstellar landscapes. It also features Santa swinging by Chicago.

Well, it's supposed to be Chicago, but the city's iconic buildings actually appear to be on a landmass that looks suspiciously like Manhattan, where "Santa's Journey to the Stars" was on display last year. There's even a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade going on, and that event is held in New York City.

Reddit user the-mp posted a picture from the State Street display that shows the mixup:

"Macy’s Herald Square featured Santa’s Journey to the Stars last year," spokeswoman Andrea Schwartz wrote in an email before the windows were unveiled. "It was well loved by the crowds and we created a Macy’s at State Street version of these windows. These windows [in Chicago] are new."

The windows may be new, but it seems the display may contained recycled parts from New York. Here's a video that shows the display in New York City:
