THE LOOP — Santa Claus is going to outer space in this year's "holiday windows" at Chicago's flagship Macy's store, 111 N. State St.

The eight-floor department store will unveil its annual holiday windows and 45-foot-tall "Great Tree" on Saturday, said Andrea Schwartz, a Chicago-based spokesman for the national retailer. One window will be "Peanuts" themed, honoring the comic strip's 65th anniversary.

"Santa's Journey to the Stars" will be viewable starting at 10 a.m. The windows follow the young boy Alex, who receives a telescope as a gift and uses it to experience Christmas on different planets with his dog Bella and Santa Claus, the department store said in a statement.

Singer Jordin Sparks will be on hand for the tree lighting ceremony at noon Saturday, and customers are invited to take photos with her.

Prior window themes have included "The 12 Days of Christmas" and "Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus."
