Englewood Shooting Kills Woman, 20, Critically Wounds Teen, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old woman was killed and a 15-year-old boy wounded in a drive-by shooting in Englewood Monday evening, according to police.

The two were outside in the 7300 block of South May Street around 6:20 p.m. Monday when a dark-colored car drove up and someone inside opened fire, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman was struck in the right armpit and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The boy was struck in the scrotum and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Sedevic said.

The boy is a documented gang member, according to police. No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.
