HYDE PARK — Black Cinema House is starting Halloween off early with a screening of Spike Lee’s “Tales from the Hood.”
The screening at 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at Black Cinema House, 7200 S. Kimbark Ave., will mark the 20th anniversary of the cult black horror film and will launch a series for the theater.
The film mixes humor and classic horror tropes with contemporary fears of police brutality, child abuse and gang violence with a soundtrack by Wu-Tang Clan, Gravediggaz and Scarface.
The screening is the first in a new series “Black Perspectives on Horror.”
Future screenings have yet to be announced.
The screening of “Tales from the Hood” is free and open to the public.
