CHICAGO — A West Garfield Park business owner was allegedly selling stolen merchandise and was taking cash for LINK card benefits, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Ali Al-Najjar, 45, was a large-scale buyer of stolen "high value merchandise," which he sold out of his business in the 4000 block of West Madison Street, police said in a news release. Al-Najjar, of the 5700 block of North Mozart Street in Albany Park, also allegedly purchased LINK card benefits illegally.

He was charged with one count of felony continuing financial crime enterprise. Al-Najjar was expected in bond court Friday.

On Thursday, Police raided Al-Najjar's home, arresting the man without incident. Police recovered more than $40,000 in cash, about $30,000 worth of high-value merchandise and two cars, the department said.

The investigation, dubbed "Operation Gray King," began after police received mutiple complaints about the business, police said. They later discovered that Al-Najjar was a major purchaser of stolen goods.
