WICKER PARK — The owner of a North Avenue bar that has become a trusty spot to catch live comedy and music sent out a mass email on Monday in hopes of drawing more awareness to a lineup worthy of attention — along with the Cubs — this week.

"You can still watch the Cubs in the playoffs and see a show. We appreciate your help and for supporting live performance and a local independent business," wrote Jim Weber, owner of @North at 1637 W. North Ave., which opened on Nov. 1, 2013.

This week, @North kicks off with Minneapolis-based Gramma's Boyfriend on Monday and ends with Sunday's visit by David Huntsberger, a stand-up comedian and co-host of the Professor Blastoff podcast.

Junior Stopka, recently on "Last Comic Standing," will headline on Saturday after openers Kyle Bohannon and Tyler Korrasch. Other performers include Chris Thayer, a writer for ”The Pete Holmes Show" on Tuesday and Geoff Tate and Emma Arnold on Thursday.

The Cubs will play on the bar's nine flat-screen televisions before the shows, said Weber, who is also a Cubs fan. Playoff home games against the St. Louis Cardinals are at 5:07 p.m. Monday and 3:37 p.m. Tuesday. If necessary to break a 2-2 tie, Game 5 will happen in St. Louis on Thursday.
