NORTH CENTER — Sometimes you play the cards you're dealt, and sometimes you have to ride your bike from bar to bar before you'll know whether to hold 'em or fold 'em.

Spiteful Brewing's inaugural Poker Ride, set for Friday, puts a transit twist on the game by sending participants on a cycling pub crawl to collect individual cards until they have a complete hand.

Here's how it works: Check in any time between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the Green Lady, 3328 N. Lincoln Ave.

Once you've anted up the $5 registration fee, you'll receive a list of places where you can pick up a card, one per location.

Tipping its hand, Spiteful has revealed Half Acre, Begyle Brewing, the Long Room, Guthries Tavern and Four Moon Tavern among the stops. What are the odds you'll have a beer or two along the way?

Complete your hand and return to the Green Lady by 9 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three hands. But even if you're holding a pair of deuces, you could still walk away a winner. More swag will be up for grabs during a 10 p.m. raffle. All you have to do to enter is drink a Spiteful beer at the Green Lady.
