Come in Costume for Halloween 5K Set To Benefit St. Eugene

NORWOOD PARK — Ghouls and goblins are set to hit the streets of Norwood Park during the fourth annual Trot 'N Treat 5K run to benefit St. Eugene School.

The 5K race, which will loop around Oriole Park through tree-lined streets, will start at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 at 7930 W. Foster Ave. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes.

The course is certified by the USA Track and Field Association and runners will be timed with chips.

A quarter-mile Monster Dash for runners 10 and younger will follow the 5K at 10:30 a.m.

Race participants will receive a long-sleeve technical running shirt and a Gatorade squeeze bottle. Monster Dash participants will receive a technical running shirt and a goodie bag.

A post-race celebration will include bounce houses, face painting and balloon animals. Free pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate and coffee will be served.

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers as well as medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age division.

Registration varies from $15-$35 depending on the age of the runner and is available online and on race day.
