California Wine Grapes Go On Sale In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT — Sante Fe Grape Distributors has opened its yearly grape emporium at the corner of 35th Street and Racine Avenue.

If you’re looking to buy a case of grapes to whip up some homemade wine, you have to hurry: Supplies will likely run out by Oct. 20, according to Mario Coglianese, who has helped run the 92-year-old distributor since 1983.

Prices for a 36-pound case of imported grapes run between $33 and $37. Sante Fe offers more than a dozen varieties, including cabernet, sangiovese, merlot, zinfandel and chardonnay.

You can also buy a five-gallon pails of grape juice. Prices ranges from $60-$75.

Santa Fe Grape Distributors is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
