CHICAGO — A Garfield Park shooting left one man dead and another wounded, police said.

At 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, two 24-year-old men were sitting in a car in the 4300 block of West Maypole Avenue when someone walked up and fired at them, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

One of the men was hit in his head and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said.

Hours later, Deangelo Birge, of the 4200 block of West Jackson was pronounced dead at 8:46 p.m. at the hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The other man was hit in his head and hand and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

No one is in in custody for the shooting.
