CHICAGO — Chicago police have launched a homicide investigation after they found a man in a burned out car Wednesday in Roseland, the department said.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to calls of a car on fire in the 10700 block of South Eggleston Avenue around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, Chicago police spokeswoman.

Police took over when a body inside the burned car was determined to have been shot, Trainor said. She said an adult man was found inside the car with a gunshot wound to his head.

No other details on the man's identity were made available. The homicide investigation is ongoing, Trainor said.
