PULLMAN — On Sunday, the neighborhood will be going to the dogs, cats and other furry creatures, too, when folks gather at the visitor center for the 8th Annual Companion Animal Blessing.
Starting at 1 p.m., you’ll have a chance to adopt animals, get a life-like portrait drawn of you and your pet, hear presentations from animal activists and a representative from the Chicago police animal crimes unit, swap gently used leashes, carriers at the pet paraphernalia free exchange and bid on treasures at a silent auction.
At about 3 p.m., the Rev. Mark Krylowicz of St. Anthony Church in Roseland is set to offer a special pet blessing that’s open to people (and animals) regardless of their faith.
The event includes a performance by the Pullman Community Choir Ensemble, and food and beverages will be on sale at 11141 S. Cottage Grove Ave.
