BELMONT CRAGIN — Organizers say they plan to host the BC Fest again next year after 7,000 people came to the second-ever festival that spanned three blocks of Central Avenue Sept. 18-20.

The festival featured 37 retail and food vendors, plus a music stage and small carnival.

Although the festival's area was expanded from its pilot run in 2014, organizer Frank Maza said, attendance dipped slightly from last year. He pointed to Friday's heavy rain, and this year's relatively late calendar spot, to account for the decrease.

"Last year we did it before school started, and I think we're going to aim for that next year, too," Maza said. "We still had a great turnout though, especially on Sunday."

Overall, Maza said, the festival was a total success.

"Everyone had a great time, no incidents, and it was just a great way for the community to come out and have a great fun experience together."

Maza said they hope hold the fest again, but don't have a date yet. They expect to announce a date and more details by May or June of next year.
