PORTAGE PARK — Police will be on the lookout for drunken drivers in the Jefferson Park Police District this weekend.
Police will conduct a roadside safety check at 5900 W. Irving Park Road to find drivers who are drunk, speeding or not wearing their seat belts from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.
“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Police Supt. Garry McCarthy. “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”
