HYDE PARK — Avoid Ellis Avenue to cut north through the University of Chicago campus through November.

Ellis Avenue from 57th to 59th Street will be limited to southbound traffic only through November.

Crews started Monday installing a new water main below the street that divides the university’s main quadrangle from the medical school buildings and hospital.

The sidewalks on the east side of the street will also be closed and parking will be restricted on both sides of the street until construction wraps up in November.

Bus routes on the street will be unaffected.
