WICKER PARK — Mac's Wood Grilled, a neighborhood bar that underwent a rebranding and menu overhaul in July will be celebrating its grand opening on Tuesday by putting draft beers from San Francisco-based Almanac Beer Company in the spotlight.

Beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Mac's Wood Grilled will tap five new Almanac beers, including Farmer’s Reserve Pluot, an American Wild Ale brewed with an apricot-plum hybrid and Dogpatch Sour, a barrel-aged ale made with cherries.

The beer tapping will be at 4 p.m. From 7-9 p.m. Wirtz Craft Beer Specialist Paul Manning will provide "beer education" and giveaways such as apparel.

Almanac beers will range between $7-$10 per glass.

In addition to the Almanac Beers and other craft brew options, Mac's also offers ciders and sour beers from small-batch American and European producers such as Lynnbrook Raspberry Sour Ale from Destihl Brewery in Bloomington, Illinois ($6), and Zombie Killer Cherry Hard Cider from B. Necktar Meadery in Ferndale, Michigan ($8).

The new drink options coincide with the corner bar and restaurant's decision to use locally-sourced meats prepared on a wood-burning grill and rotisserie, a method that is incorporated into the new name, Mac's Wood Grilled. Chicken from Harrison’s Poultry Farm, artisan and local cheese from the Great American Cheese Company, and charcuterie from Tete Charcuterie are all available.

In addition to the upgraded menu, the rebranding includes new furniture and patio landscaping as well as a mural on both sides of the landmarked Schlitz building’s exterior.  Mac's Wood Grilled owners Tom and Judy Magee named a burger for the team at Momentum Art, who created the mural.

The "Momentum Art Burger" features Slagel Family Farm beef topped with foie gras, caramelized onions and a port wine reduction ($22).
