HUMBOLDT PARK — A 24-year-old man died and and 21-year-old man was hurt after a shooting Monday night in Humboldt Park, police said.

Around 8:20 p.m., the men were sitting in a van stopped at a red light in the 1200 block of North Keeler Avenue when several men started shooting at them from the sidewalk, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The van sped away before crashing into a parked car on the side of the street, he said.

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead on scene, having been shot in the side, arm and chest, Estrada said. He was identified as Hughvon Polk, of the 2800 block of West Flournoy Avenue, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Polk died at 6:52 a.m. of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the records.

The 21-year-old was taken to Norwegian Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with gunshot wounds in the left hand and upper left arm, Estrada said.

Police said both men were documented gang members, and they believe the shooting was gang-related.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
