GARFIELD PARK — A man was killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting in West Garfield Park Monday night, police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a person shot in the 3800 block of West Monroe Street, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. There, they found a 37-year-old man with gunshot wounds in his neck and back.

William Andrews, of the 1600 block of West LeMoyne Street in Wicker Park, was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Later, police found a 34-year-old woman in the 4000 block of West Lake Street with a gunshot wound in her arm, Estrada said. She said she had been with Andrews when she heard gunshots and felt pain before running away.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition stabilized, Estrada said.

Less than a half-hour before the shooting, another man was found shot to death several blocks away, Estrada said.
