UPTOWN — A mixed-used building, adjacent to where the new Ross will be in Uptown, was sold last week.

According to REJournals.com, Marcus & Millichap sold the 29-unit mixed-use property, at 944 W. Montrose Ave., for $1.95 million. The building houses 27 convertible one-bedroom apartments and two commercial spaces.

The rents were "far below market value" and the buyers plan to upgrade the common areas, REJournals reports.

Earlier this month, Ross Dress for Less confirmed it had signed a lease for the space, at 918 W. Montrose Ave., adjacent to the building. The company would not reveal when the store would be opening.

Early renderings of the space, obtained by Uptown Update, show that Ross Dress For Less would be the anchor tenant and an additional 4,800 square feet remained for another retail space. The site would have 73 parking spots, Uptown Update said.

The site plan for the Ross space is available here.

Residents of the building were told the building was being sold a few months ago, but weren't told if they we would be able to continue living in the building. About 27 people lived in the building, most of whom have been there for over a decade, said one resident of the building.
