Back of the Yards Man Who Died Days After Being Shot Identified

CHICAGO — A 22-year-old Back of the Yards man died several days after being shot in his head, according to police and Cook County Medical Examiner's records.

Honorio Hernandez, 23, of the 4300 block of South Wood Street, was shot in the same block at 4:50 a.m. July 31, according to police and medical examiner's records. He was shot in his chest and neck and was taken to Stroger Hospital in very critical condition, Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman, said at the time of the incident.

Hernandez died from his wounds at 6:45 a.m. Aug. 2 at the hospital, according to medical examiner's records.
