Free Backpacks and Haircuts for Kids at 4th Ward Health and Housing Fair

HYDE PARK — Get a haircut, backpack and state ID in one place on Aug. 15 during the 4th Ward Health and Housing Fair.

Ald. Will Burns (4th) and State Rep. Christian Mitchell (D-Chicago) sponsor the free fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. King College Prep, 4445 S. Drexel Blvd.

Now in its 24th year, the fair offers free backpacks and haircuts kids heading back to school. Free blood pressure checks, dental and vision screenings and more are available for people of all ages. And adults can get renew their state ID or driver’s license.

The event also includes seminars on landlord and tenants rights, home buying and educational training for homeowners.

The fair is free and open to the public and no registration is necessary.
