CHICAGO — You can check out the latest offerings from Birchbox while meeting with the stars of "Empire" this weekend.
Birchbox will be in town Friday to Sunday. Attendees will be able to buy beauty and grooming products, receive free beauty and grooming services and take part in the Build Your Own Birchbox area.
"Empire" cast members Grace Gealey (Anika Calhoun), Kaitlin Doubleday (Rhonda Lyon) and Gabourey Sidibe (Becky) will be at the event for photos and autographs 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. There will also be a live DJ on Saturday and free nail services and astrology readings from Enamel Diction.
Birchbox is a service that sends online subscribers a box of selected beauty supplies once a month, but it is now opening brick-and-mortar stores. The company's stop in Chicago is part of a multi-city road trip to find Birchbox's next location for permanent men's and women's stores. Chicago is being considered alongside Atlanta, which was visited last weekend, and Los Angeles, where Birchbox will be Aug. 28-30.
The Birchbox stations will be open noon-6 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave. Birchbox will be divided into men's and women's shops that operate out of transformed shipping containers.
