CHICAGO — It's Friday which means time to make those weekend plans!
1. ‘Midsummer Mayhem’ Takes Over Winnemac Park: Shakespeare’s Motley Crew presents “Midsummer Mayhem,” a dizzying mashup of Shakespeare’s greatest hits, most famous lines, coolest sword fights and more. Pack a picnic and bring a blanket or chair, but don’t get too comfy — the show only lasts 45 minutes. Pre-show and parade kick off at 6:30 p.m., the main event starts at 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Additional weekends in August. Free. Winnemac Park, 5101 N. Leavitt St. (look for the cart and ribbons).
2. Goonies Never Say Die: The ‘80s classic that proves friends are the real treasure will come to life again on the big screen as part of the Chicago Park District’s Movies in the Parks series. Starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Edgebrook Park, 6525 N. Hiawatha Ave. Free.
3. Ride Along The Lakefront (But Return For Free Goodies): On Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. Edgewater residents can meet in front of the mural at Whole Foods on North Broadway ready for whatever type of adventure they choose: a bike ride, walk, jog, roll, stroll or other along the lakefront, before returning to Whole Foods at 10 a.m. for free goodies as part of the community’s Go Edgewater initiative. 4. Dance, Eat and Play: The Resident Association of Greater Englewood is putting on the family friendly So Fresh Saturday event. There will be live entertainment, food and activities for all ages. Lindblom Park, 6054 S. Damen Ave, 3- 8 p.m.
5. Get Retro (On Roscoe): Check out old cars and cover bands at a throwback-themed street fest in Roscoe Village. Retro on Roscoe has stuff for the kids, an antique car show and more. Runs 5-10 p.m. Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Roscoe and Damen. $10 suggested donation.
