Preview Elaine Dame Trio Before Jazz Fest at Uptown Saturday Night

UPTOWN — Uptown Saturday Night this month will include walking tours, events for children, food deals at local restaurants and jazz music from the Elaine Dame Trio.

The fun kicks off at 2 p.m. in the Uptown Entertainment District beginning with three walking tours every hour until 5 p.m. The walking tour will begin at Shake, Rattle and Read, 4812 N. Broadway, and take you on a mile-long tour hosted by a docent from Choose Chicago's Greeter Program. The tours are free.

From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Layla and Nick, staff members of the Old Town School of Music, will entertain kids and adults with their vocal and multi-instrumental prowess. The performance will take place at Bezazian Library, 1226 N. Ainslie St.

The headliner Elaine Dame Trio will take the stage at Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The trio, which includes vocalist Elaine Dame, guitarist Neal Alger and bassist John Sims, will also be performing at next month's Chicago Jazz Festival.

After the performance, the first 25 guests at Uptown Underground's Cabaret Project will get in free compliments of Uptown Saturday Night. The normal $25 cover fee will be waived.

Fat Cat Restaurant and Bar, 4840 N. Broadway, will also be offering a fixed meal for $25 that will cover a starter, entree and dessert.

• Sabretooth Organ Quartet at Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway

• Men of Soul at Black Ensemble Theater, 4450 N. Clark St.

• The Frontrunners at Uptown Lounge, 1136 W. Lawrence Ave.

• Contra Dance at Wilson Abbey, 935 W. Wilson Ave.

Uptown Saturday Nights are held the second Saturday of each month.
