CHICAGO — It must be that Midwestern charm.

Chicago is, according to a recent poll, the ninth-friendliest city in the U.S.

Travelzoo, a travel deal website, polled 6,000 travelers to find out which cities they found most welcoming.

Honolulu was No. 1, and New York, somehow, was No. 2.

Illinois, however, did not make the top-ten-friendliest states list. No. 1 was Florida. The company also asked respondents to rank international destinations, which highlighted Amsterdam, Mexico and Australia.
