BUCKTOWN — A huge estate sale at Riverside Cafe begins Wednesday and promises "extremely rare and one-of-a-kind finds" at the former eatery that was sold to new owners earlier this month.

Since closing up shop after 30 years, cafe owners Ruben and Mary Torres have been cataloging all the stuff that Ruben Torres had amassed and displayed in the family run eatery, known for its deep fried Twinkies, BYOB buffet brunches and eclectic decor.

Some items of interest include "an ancient television," as described in the sale listing, a wooden butcher block, Tiffany style lamps, vintage beer signs, mirrors, tennis rackets, wicker baskets and more.

"We are still uncovering antique wooden boxes filled with great old rusty antiques. All items must be sold down to every last screw. So bring a flashlight, some gloves, and a pocket full of cash for what will be one of the best sales of the year!" says an ad.

Riverside Cafe, 1656 W. Cortland St. Sale hours are noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, according to a sign in the window. Cash and credit cards (charges over $50) accepted.  Questions about items will only be answered onsite.  View photos here.
