In 2011, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers undertook a project to restore five acres of Eugene Field Park to its original marshy habitat, part of a bid to help alleviate flooding in the area.
Take a free guided walking tour of the park to view the results of those efforts, 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, 5100 N. Ridgeway Ave.
Come early and enjoy a free outdoor concert by the duo Gonza & Isa Cancion y Cuento. They'll be performing children's songs in Spanish from Mexico's beloved "Cri-Cri," the singing cricket, rumored to have inspired Walt Disney's Jiminy Cricket. The concert starts at 6 p.m., meet by the park's basketball courts.
