CHICAGO — The push for a hospital with a Level One trauma center on the South Side of Chicago now has a new supporter: Chicago rapper Fredo Santana.

The day after his friend Marvin "Capo" Carr was slain on the South Side, Fredo Santana tweeted: "Why the f--- ain't no trama units on the south side of chicago that's s--- so f----- up somebody @ the mayor ask him."

Capo was shot at 77th and Kingston Saturday afternoon and taken 11 miles to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the North Side Streeterville neighborhood. Northwestern Memorial has a Level One trauma center, which is equipped to care for critically injured gunshot victims.

Carr died of his wounds later Saturday.

That lack of a trauma center on the South Side has been debated for years, with countless protests and civil disobedience arrests by activists pushing for a center.
