HYDE PARK — Saxophonist Steve Coleman is putting himself through a marathon for his residency at the Logan Center for the Arts, playing 15 shows in three weeks.

Coleman and the Five Elements Band will play a show nearly every day starting Wednesday and culminating with an Aug. 6 show at Millennium Park.

The Chicago-born alto saxophonist is charged with expanding his thinking and composition by taking inspiration from Bernadette Brady’s “The Eagle and the Lark,” an astrology textbook heavy on math and poetry.

Coleman will be on campus every day playing in the afternoon for a series of student workshops. Many days he will be back in the evenings for a public performance

The series kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Logan Center, 915 E. 60th St. Tickets are $10.

The residency ends with a free 6:30 p.m. performance Aug. 6 at Millennium Park.

Prices and times vary for the other shows. For a full list, visit the Logan Center’s website.
