Man Charged in September Murder in Grand Crossing

CHICAGO — A South Side man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Riverdale man last September.

Joshua J. Ford, 25, was arrested for the murder on Sept. 21 of Richard Johnson, 34, of Riverdale.

Ford allegedly opened fired on a car on the 7700 block of South Stewart Avenue at 2:40 a.m. The shooting was about four blocks from Ford's home, police said.

Johnson, a passenger in the car, was hit in the head by the gunfire and was driven to St. Bernard’s Hospital by a friend. He was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

Ford was arrested on July 9.
