Calumet Heights Shooting Leaves Man, 48, Dead

CHICAGO — A 48-year-old man was killed in a shooting near his Calumet Heights home Sunday, police said.

Around 4 p.m., Anthony Strong was in the 9200 block of South Harper Avenue when he was shot in his chest, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Cross, who lived on the block where he was shot, was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition and pronounced at 6:06 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police are questioning a person of interest in the shooting, Estrada said.
