NORWOOD PARK — A sold-out 16-team softball tournament Sunday will raise money to fund pediatric cancer research in the memory of Leah Anderson, a Norwood Park 7-year-old girl.
The tournament is the first held by the Live Like Leah Foundation, founded by Mike and Shannon Anderson after their daughter died from a malignant brain tumor in December 2012, approximately a year after it was discovered.
While the teams battle it out on the diamonds at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave., food will be available for purchase as well as children's activities — including a bouncy house — will keep non-players entertained, organizers said.
Live Like Leah is a partner of the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, which was founded in memory of John, a 15-year-old from Beverly who died from a similar tumor.
