Is Your 'Hood a Coffee Haven? Map Shows Concentration of Cafes in Chicago

By Tanveer Ali | June 18, 2015 5:46am

CHICAGO — Is your neighborhood a coffee haven or a caffeine desert?

Based on a map created by FindTheBest, a data research company, the Loop leads in the concentration of coffee shops, with 128.5 cafes for every 100,000 people live there.

While the Loop's population swells during the work day, pushing this number down, this should not be a surprise to anyone. Anywhere you turn in the Loop, you'll likely spot at least one Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts within eyesight.

Other neighborhoods that rank high on the map: West Loop, Wicker Park and Ravenswood.

The findings match up well with a map DNAinfo produced last year, plotting out — as comprehensively as possible — every coffee shop in Chicago.
