LINCOLN SQUARE — If you've ever wished your favorite local business would open a second location, spruce up its signage or upgrade its website, chances are the owners have had the same thoughts — but not the cash to act.

Now you can help give them the money to grow by voting in Chase Bank's Mission Main Street Grants competition.

The Davis Theater in Lincoln Square, Ravenswood's Cookie Bar gluten-free bakery, High 5 Resale Shoppe in Irving Park and North Center's Mint Home vintage furnishings are among the neighborhood businesses in the running for a $100,000 grant.

Previous recipients include Dat Donut in Chatham.

In order to qualify, businesses have to have been in operation for at least two years and employ fewer than 100 people.

The winners will be announced in September, but only those applicants who receive 250 votes by Thursday will advance to the selection phase.

Community support in the form of online votes is one of the criteria that will factor into judges' final decision.

The panel of experts holding applicants' fate in their hands includes Jennifer Piepszak, CEO of Chase Business Banking, and "entrepertainer" Nick Cannon.
