BRIDGEPORT — The Bridgeport Art Center welcomes you to attend its monthly “Third Friday” gathering and check out neighborhood artists.
The free event begins on June 19 at 7 p.m. on the fourth floor of the massive building at 1200 W. 35th St. — the former site of a 500,000-square-foot Spiegel Catalogue Warehouse. That's where you’ll get to explore rooms filled with art pieces and speak with the artists who made them.
This event marks the debut of a new exhibition called “Throes of Progress,” a collection by artists Jacqueline Moses, Paul Sierra, Kathy Weaver and Bob Emser. The exhibition explores "the often negative effects of progress” on society and the planet.
"This unique collection shows how the massive industrial technologies have led to unchecked growth, creating an over-engineered planet that no longer supports human, or even biological, values,” according to an official description.
