WEST LOOP — Thousands of bold bikers are expected to drop their drawers for the World Naked Bike Ride Saturday in the West Loop.

The 12th annual "bare as you dare" bike ride is expected to kick off at Saturday night at a yet-to-be disclosed location in the West Loop.

The exact location and the route will not be announced widely until the day of, according to organizers. Check-in in past years has been at about 6 p.m. in the West Loop and the bevy of nude cyclists are expected to take to streets from 8-11 p.m.

Participants bike about 12 miles throughout Chicago to show support for "man-powered wheels" — bicycles, scooters and roller skates — and promote positive body image. Bicyclists typically ride nude or nearly so, donning body paint, tape, socks, underwear and "fanciful costumes," organizers said.

Attendees should arrive at the starting location in clothes and then strip down. All participants should have a container to hold their clothing while they ride.

World Naked Bike Ride events take place in cities around the world. The 2014 Chicago ride drew more than 2,000 riders, according to organizers.
