DOWNTOWN — "Chiraq" is headed to the heart of the city.
Da Chi-Lite Joint Inc., a Brooklyn-based company owned by filmmaker Spike Lee, posted notices Downtown on Thursday telling neighbors work on the controversial movie would begin here Sunday and last through Tuesday, shutting down parking on various streets.

The production, which may be an adaptation of an ancient Greek comedy about women withholding sex in an attempt to stop violence, arrives Downtown after prior filming in Wicker Park, Hyde Park, and throughout the South Side.
Despite Lee's insistence the movie's message will be positive, its working title has drawn criticism from aldermen and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who believe the "Chiraq" moniker stigmatizes neighborhoods marred by violence.
Filming for the movie is expected to last through July.
