CHICAGO — Jerry Seinfeld traded in the streets of Gotham and Monk's Cafe for Michigan Avenue and Manny's Coffee Shop & Deli.
The comedian, who for nine seasons starred in a sitcom about himself set in New York, ended up at the South Loop diner having coffee and talking political correctness — a subject that landed Seinfeld in hot water recently — with fellow comedian Steve Harvey for an episode of his web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee."
Wednesday's webisode featured the New York native picking up Harvey at Chicago's NBC Tower in a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible in Onyx black with red and silver vinyl interior. It was a car so sweet Harvey exclaimed "Jerry, I'm finta cry" as soon as he saw it.
The two take a roundabout ride through the city, talking to traffic aides on Michigan Avenue and waving at fans of their sweet ride (or them, perhaps), as they drive past Soldier Field, down Wacker Drive, past Wrigley Field and west on Roosevelt Road until they end up at Manny's Coffee Shop & Deli, 1141 S. Jefferson St.
Remy Vaudelle posted this video of Steve Harvey and Jerry Seinfeld riding around the city on YouTube.
The webisode "Always Do the Banana Joke First" is the second of the show's sixth season. After coffee and conversation, Harvey takes Seinfeld to Biggs Cigar Emporium, 1150 N. Dearborn St., which he called one of the greatest spots in Chicago.
